3D Objects is an application for creating 3-Dimensional objects like blocks, cones, spheres and cylinders. 3D Objects create objects with a depth into the screen. This is different compared with paint- or draw program like Mac Draw or Super Paint that works in 2D. This makes it possible to rotate and move the objects just like they would be physical real objects. To emphasise different features it is possible to turn on light sources and set the material properties of the objects so that their appearance change. The result can be exported to a PICT file or to the scrapbook. The purpose with the program is to supply a product that can create 3D objects for visualisation and for conceptual ideas.
This is a share ware program and to use this program you must register as a user and pay the shareware fee. If you look at the program size for 3D Objects and compare it with a normal word processor you will understand that substantial efforts have gone into the product. Please take you time and fill out the registration form found in the next chapter.
Computer requirements
This program requires a Mac using system 7 or later. It also must be a 68020 processor or later (not a Plus, SE or Classic). The program comes in two versions:
• Math, require math-processor, most operations are faster.
• Plain, runs significantly slower for some operations but runs on all machines including Power PC.
You should have at least 4 Mb internal memory, but it works with less. A color screen is preferred, but a B/W or grey scale will do just fine.
Coming attractions
This first version (version 1) only creates simple primitives like spheres, blocks, cones and cylinders. The next version (version 2) will include Boolean operations like cut, union and join. With these operations is possible to create complicated parts and designs. The third revision (version 3) will include revolvation and extrusion of cross sections. This simplifies the creation of many parts. Further revisions depend on user demand and commercial success.
